Year 13

As a Year 13 you are entitled to the following careers provision at The Priory Academy LSST:

Head of Year

Head of Year for the year group will Liaise with subject teachers and Form Tutor and encourage and support progression through school.

Pastoral Support

Access to a pastoral learning mentor, experienced in advising students in the particular year group. A none teaching member of staff who they can go to with any concerns they may have.

Awareness Programme

Topics studied in Awareness:

  • Labour Market Information
  • Pathways
  • Contracts
  • Rights in the workplace
  • Volunteering
  • Financial ventures
  • Money Management

Learning Mentor

Either an older student or a member of staff who can advise and coach in a particular subject.

Peer Listener

An older student to whom students can go to with any concerns that they may have.

Access to a Pathways meeting

The opportunity to speak to our Careers Team or an external careers advisor about their career choices and receive advice and guidance on what they would hope to do after school.

Careers Events

The opportunity to attend a number of careers events. Employers come in to school and will provide advice and guidance on working within their sector. There could also be opportunities to visit employers on their premises

Access to an online career programme

An online career programme to learn more about a range of different careers, what the role entails, entry requirements and progression routes.

STEM Activities

Access to a range of STEM activities delivered both in and out of school.

Personal statement guidance

Advice and guidance on how to complete their personal statement to make it the best it can be.

UCAS application checking

One to one meeting with 6th form and higher education manager to go through the university application prior to submission.

University workshops

Online or actual attendance to a variety of workshops and summer schools offered by universities.

Apprenticeship and job application support

Advice and guidance on searching for and completing apprenticeship and job applications. Advice and preparation for online testing and interview practice

University interview practice

One to one interview with a senior member of staff to prepare for university interviews.

MMI (multiple mini interviews) practice

MMI workshop for all potential medical students
