The PE Department provides an extra-curricular programme that caters for all of our students. The programme changes throughout the year and reflects what is being taught on the school based curriculum and the seasons of various sports and activities.
The department also offers extra-curricular activities which are supported through the legacy of the School Sports Partnership and are sometimes delivered by external coaches and agencies. Generally all extra-curricular activities are open to all ages and aim to captivate the interest of large groups of pupils and students.
The extra-curricular programme has a solid spine of mainstream activities such as netball, football, rugby, badminton, rounders, athletics and cricket which attract large numbers on a regular basis and feed into the school teams of these areas. The programme has offered activities such as trampolining, basketball, rowing, hockey, ultimate Frisbee and softball which are not as frequent on the school curriculum but has attracted large numbers in attendance.
The extra-curricular programme also offers swimming and fitness which are more recreational based but contain aspects which involve; specific coaching, guidance and direction in terms of personal improvement and development. Activities aim to meet the requirements of the pupils but also reflect on the character of the school itself. Activities which are on offer through this system are; sailing, polo, scuba diving, golf and biathlon.
Throughout the year the department aims to provide an extra-curricular programme that is; broad, varied, interesting and inspiring. The department hopes that participation in activities will enthuse learning, enjoyment and sense of achievement for all ages of pupils and students.
