CPD and Events
Since September, we have established the following, for the benefit of our students. Each of these are open to any of our partner schools too, should they so desire:
- A parent/carer/student questionnaire to gauge language learning attitudes;
- Purposeful contacts with local and national businesses / organisations;
- A dedicated Teams space to share resources and establish productive dialogues;
- Liaison with the Association for Language Learning, the British Council and government outreach programmes;
- Access to CPD through the LEO platform;
- Shared NCLE resourcing and LEO flyers;
- Hosted a French author / illustrator – Magali de Huche – who worked with Y8/9 students from different schools. This was an alternative to the usual Francophonie on the Road;
- Hosted careers-based events through the British Council and government outreach and business champions;
- 280+ Y7s attended a virtual assembly run by Business Language Champions;
- 3 x Y11 classes attended a presentation on “Where can languages take you?”;
- 100+ Y9s attended a government outreach webinar;
- 3 x Y10 classes listened to Higher Education specialists and the British Council with a focus on Polish, Russian and Spanish.
Following on from last year’s successful multi school Language Festival, involving schools in the locality, our productive Primary Culture Day and our in-person conference and Teach meet, this year we will be hosting a Careers Fair on 4th February 2026 involving 8 secondary schools, alongside local and national organisations in a variety of presentations and workshops. The focus is that Languages Take You Further.
Then, on 24th February 2026 we will be building on last year’s success and staging a second language conference and Teach meet.
Two of our staff linguists will be presenting at Language World on 13th and 14th March 2026.
We are obviously desirous of setting up contacts with schools in the county and beyond, so have set up a Forms quiz for schools to register their interest in the first instance. Please join us – it’s your choice how much you wish to be involved. You'll then have access to resources, webinars and will get to hear about future events.
