Federation Ski Trip

Friday 15th February saw the departure of the Federation Ski trip. With students from four of the Federation’s academies on board, the drivers set the satellite navigation for Aprica, Italy. After a long 26 hours, we reached our destination. Upon arrival it was off to the ski fit shop to fit boots, skis, helmets and poles. Sunday morning dawned with clear sky and sun, it was off to the slopes for the first of our ski lessons. For the experienced skiers it was off up the mountain to tackle the red and blue runs. The beginners began to acquaint themselves with turning and stopping on snow. During the week the evening entertainment consistent of bum boarding, ice skating and the obligatory pizza evening. Students made excellent progress with new skills being learned in every lesson and it was a credit to the students to see some of the beginner groups reach the top of the resort by the end of the week andsome of the more experienced skiers were able to take on the challenges of a slalom course and jumps within the fun park.  At the end of six days of lessons all students were able to show excellent progress with their skiing and had experienced the culture of an Italian ski resort.
