On Wednesday 12th October a group of Year 9 female students spent the afternoon at Lincoln University attending SeeWomen Live. This event was run by Lincoln University and Siemens, and was designed to inform and inspire female students about the STEM careers available to them. We watched a series of experiments, all them involving fire and/or explosions, and the Priory Academy LSST students unanimously volunteered their Head of Year to have her hand set on fire when an adult participant was required! A selection of female Siemens employees from a variety of departments and job positions then told us all about their backgrounds and careers and took questions from students. An inspiring day that gave the girls much to think about over the next few years, with the overall message of ‘Keep an open mind - there are so many careers out there that most people have never considered or even heard of’.
