Future Chef Regional Heat
Future Chef Regional Heat Friday 3rd February 2017
After a fantastic performance in the Future Chef local heat, Holly Blockley attended the regional heat at Loughborough College. Preparations for the heat had not been ideal as Holly’s mentor pulled out at the beginning of January. With the help of her mother Holly set about improving her dishes acting upon feedback received by the local heat judges. However; Holly held it together and set about her task with determination of which any professional chef would have been proud. The 6 students were again taken out of their comfort zones and asked to prepare and cook a main dish and dessert in an industrial style kitchen. The set criteria is to cook 2 portions of each of the 2 courses within a 90 minutes timeframe and also within a £10.00 budget.
Holly’s dishes were prepared and presented on time. She gave it everything she had. After an anxious wait for the judges to deliberate the presentation took place. With some very high standards of cooking by all competitors, the winner of the regional heat was Holly. The judges were particularly impressed with her dessert. The Grand Final will be taking place 27th March at the Westminster College after an overnight stay including attending a dinner hosted by Celebrity Chef Brian Turner, the competition patron. To reach the Grand Final is an incredible achievement, Congratulations Holly. Just one more heat to go, good luck.
