Future Chef 2015

Katie Choi took part in the school heat of the future chef competition along with the other Food Technology GCSE students.  They were all set a budget of £5 to produce 2 portions of a main course dish.

Her end result was creative, cooked and presented to a high standard. For the local heat Katie had a budget of £7 to prepare, cook and present a 2 course meal, 2 portions of a main and 2 portion of a dessert. The Local heat was held on Tuesday 17th November at New College in Stamford. Her menu was Pan-fried Chicken with roasted new potatoes, parsnip puree, baby carrots and Salsa Verde. Followed by a Chocolate & Raspberry Torte with Raspberry Coulis. In the heat Katie was up against 5 other students from 3 different schools. Katie rose to the challenge of cooking in an industrial style kitchen, much different from what she is used to. She managed to hold her nerve executing her dishes superbly to win the local heat. Katie is due to partake in the regional heat to be held in February. To help her prepare she has been assigned a mentor Michelin Star Head Chef Aaron Patterson from Hambleton Hall, whom has a wealth of knowledge and experience to tap into. Congratulations for your achievements thus far, good luck for the next heat.
