Local Demoncracy week 2015

During PDP Year 12 and 13 Politics students were given the opportunity to meet four of Lincoln`s 33 Councillors.

During PDP Year 12 and 13 Politics students were given the opportunity to meet four of Lincoln`s 33 Councillors. This allowed students to find out about their local government system and indeed the councillors that run it. The session began with a brief overview of what the City Council does and an introduction to the councillors’ specific roles. The students then broke down into several groups to have Q&A sessions with individual councillors. Questions were diverse in variety ranging from the day to day life of councillors to how they believe they have benefitted Lincoln over the past few years.  Needless to say all the students found the experience most interesting and certainly made them much more aware of the many responsibilities that local government, an organisation often trivialised, is responsible for.
