Year 8 Pupil Promotes South Common Country Fair

Georgia tells us how Aadil in Year 8 managed to win the event's poster competition...

On the 8th of July, the South Common Country Fair will be in full swing. I was able to interview the designer of the poster (Aadil Siddiqui, Year 8) and the Chairperson of the Cross O’Cliff Hill Residence Committee (Jasmine Sleigh).

Aadil was set the poster task as homework from his weekly Art lesson, and rose to the challenge. The Residence Committee had set a briefing, and his design beat over fifty other entries to win the competition. Some of the reasons that Aadil won included him having the best balance of text to images, the poster was clear, it was appealing and displayed the event in the most desirable way. It has been printed over 900 times, and will be delivered to every house in the South Common locality, with Aadil being credited as the official poster designer. For his winning design, he won a voucher, of an undisclosed amount.

The South Common Country fair has lots to see and do, including archery, orienteering, pond dipping, an owl display, dog agility, organised walks and much more. What’s more, this is a free event, for anyone and everyone. Previous visitors have ranged from children as young as three, to senior couples. Families are warmly welcomed, as is any age. There is free parking available too.

I could tell you about this all day, but to know what it’s really like, you’ll just have to go and see. It’s guaranteed to be a highly enjoyable day out.
