Yesterday the Year 7 Cookery Club students took on The Great Priory Bake Off Challenge. Students started their projects (either a cake or 12 cupcakes) at home and then had one final hour of decorating time in school to finish. It was the hottest day on record in July so far, which created difficult conditions for baking and decorating. We had melting buttercreams and sticky fondant icing but despite this the students, along with their baking assistants, triumphed! The cakes, which had to reflect the theme of Summer, were of excellent quality with lots of consideration going into each design. Ice cream cone cupcakes, a plant pot cake, a picnic cake, a partially chopped watermelon cake, butterflies and honey comb cupcakes were just a few of the imaginative ideas we had on display. Olaf (Frozen) even made an appearance! Judging was incredibly difficult but in the end the winners were:

1st place- Holly Blockley 7.6

2nd place- Erin Lynch 7.6

3rd place- Katie Baker 7.3

Congratulations to the winners and to all the other students who took part, it was an excellent evening. We hope you enjoyed your creations when you got home.

A BIG THANK YOU to Miss Gamwell who created The Great Priory Bake Off rosettes for us and A BIG THANK YOU to Abbey Alderman and Katy Cannings who have given up their time after school on Wednesdays to help with Cookery Club.
