Over the last three weeks, groups of A level Law students have been attending the Crown Court in Lincoln to support their study of the subject. There have been highs and lows of the visits, with one group seeing a very interesting Actual Bodily Harm case and another hearing some interesting evidence in an abuse case. It was made obvious to one group that the legal profession is not all murder and manslaughter, however, as they sat through evidence regarding the sale of defective tyres! Some important lessons were learned, however. In particular, one defendant pleaded guilty to Perverting the Course of Justice and will now probably face a term of imprisonment after lying about not being the behind the wheel of a car that was caught speeding. All in all, the visits have been beneficial, with students commenting that actually seeing the administration of justice has helped develop and deepen their understanding of what has been taught in lessons.
