Rock Challenge 2011

Mary gives us the latest news on the Rock Challenge Final.

Rock Challenge this year has been a huge success for The Priory! We won plenty of awards at the Semi Finals on the 21st March, including Best Choreography, Best Lighting, Best Set and Staging, Best Video Production and overall First Place in Lincolnshire. After this successful attempt we were then put through to the second stage – the Finals which were on the 2nd June. When we were there we won the Student Leadership and Knowledge of Rock Challenge awards.

This year the theme for The Priory was ‘Beautiful Nightmare’ and included a conflict between good and evil and what happens in a child’s mind when they dream.

As you can imagine, this was a very nerve-racking but rewarding experience for all the people involved, especially for Miss Redgrave who was in charge of the whole thing: ‘I felt sick; I always get so nervous for the students because they work so hard all year but on the night I can do nothing but watch’.

Lots of organisation went into making the Rock Challenge performance, so a special thank you must go to everyone who helped and got involved: the costume makers, dancers, and - of course - Miss Redgrave, without whom this would not have been possible.
