School Closures - Academy Update

Following the recent communication from the Trust I would like to provide you with more specific information for The Priory Academy LSST.

Before starting to explain how we are planning for the coming weeks, I would like to thank you for your tremendous support and understanding at this challenging time. I understand that you will have lots of questions and we will try and answer these within this letter and future communications. Things will change over the next few days and coming weeks and we will try and plan for this as much as possible and ensure that you are kept fully updated. If you do have questions please use the Government and Academy websites as well as the usual communication links you have with staff. Wherever possible we would ask that communication is via generalenquiries@priorylsst.co.uk sooner than in person at our receptions.

Information for children not attending the Academy

For those who are not, following recent government guidance, attending the Academy, we will be providing a range of learning resources; these will be updated over the period of time that our students are not in the Academy. We understand that all families will have different levels of IT access and facilities for completing this work and therefore we have tried to provide a broad range of resources that are accessible for all.

As communicated previously by the Trust we will now provide an education for your child through our on-line SharePoint facility. During term time, teaching staff have been asked to update curriculum materials and coordinate the delivery of these through our Academy email with their students. Students who are supported through our Learning Strategies department will receive further guidance and materials from an assigned Learning Support Assistant. As you can imagine, some staff may fall ill during the coming weeks or have dependents to care for, so we ask for your patience. If you do have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to email the following members of staff. In order for the workload to be shared we have tried to highlight where you should direct your email depending on your area of question or concern. I would hope you would receive a response within 24 hours during the working week.

Information for children who will continue to attend the Academy

For those students who fall into one of the categories the Government has detailed as being able to continue attending the Academy and as outlined in the Trust’s letter to parents/carers, we will try and operate within the normal academy opening hours. On Monday morning your child should arrive through the main gate on Cross O’Cliff Hill and make their way to the main Academy dining area. Students will be supported in the Academy with the online work set by departments; we would ask that they bring their indoor PE kit with them each day. Students should wear their normal cademy uniform. Lunchtime meals will be provided in the normal way.

Please can you let us know through emailing generalenquiries@priorylsst.co.uk or by telephone (01522889977) and by Friday at 12 noon if you are a key worker and your child will be attending on Monday.

Information about lunchtime meals

If your child is attending the Academy these will be managed as part of their daily routine as normal. If your child is not attending and is not in self isolation or poorly and receives free school meals they will be able to come into the Academy between 1215 and 1300 to have a meal. Students should enter the site through the main gate from Cross O’Cliff Hill and make their way to the main Academy restaurant. Students are requested to wear their normal Academy uniform. Unfortunately due to the guidance around social distancing parents/carers will not be able to stay with them during this time. If you child is not able to join us to eat in the Academy we will try to provide a meal that can be collected and taken home to eat. If your child is self-isolating or ill and receives free school meals we will contact you to try and make alternative arrangements.

Please can you let us know through emailing generalenquiries@priorylsst.co.uk or by telephone (01522889977) and by Friday at 12 noon if your child will be either attending the Academy for their lunch or requires a meal.

For children on an EHCP or those with a Social Worker

Students with an EHCP or social worker are also able to continue attending the Academy as outlined above. Parents/carers will be contacted by a designated member of staff before the end of the Academy day on Friday to discuss provision and confirm arrangements moving forward.

At these unprecedented times I sincerely thank you for your support. We as an Academy community will try our very best to support our students and their families. Please do remain in communication with us and please stay safe. We are here to help.
