The Priory Academy LSST - Summer School 2021
During the Summer holidays in 2021 The Priory Academy LSST proudly delivered a Summer School programme which was available to all students who were due to start Year 7 with us in September 2021. All 282 students who had been offered a place in Year 7 were invited to attend our Summer School for two full days of activities.
The Summer School ran over four days as two, two-day programmes. Parents were invited to register for a place for their child on the days that best suited them and confirmation was then sent to the 178 parents who had booked for their child to attend.
Summer School ran from Monday 16th – Thursday 19th August and during those days students were engaged in English and Maths sessions as well as enrichment activities such as team building, orienteering, problem solving, inclusive sports, athletics and well-being activities with a focus on our academy values. Parent voice after the sessions was that the experience had been extremely valuable for their children in settling into the Academy.
During the activities students were able to familiarise themselves with the academy site and see the facilities we have as well as meet some of the Year 7 pastoral team, including the Head of Year and Pastoral Manager, in order to help them to start Year 7 more smoothly in September.
Students who were entitled to Free School Meals were offered a lunchtime meal. Any students that required help with transport to the Academy were able to access support through the Summer School funding so that this was not a barrier to attendance.
The Priory Academy LSST received funding of £6,747 from the government to allow the programme to be delivered. A breakdown of how the funding was spent can be seen below.
