Robert de Cheney House is fully centrally heated and custom built to the latest standards. It is positioned on one side of the Academy site, alongside the newly built Sports Centre and Newton Centre.

The House provides boarding accommodation for up to 60 male and female Sixth Form students. All accommodation is in single, en-suite study bedrooms, including internet connection via ethernet cable in each room and Wi-Fi throughout the House. Boarders may bring their own laptops/computers and their use are subject to the Academy's ICT boarding House policy.

Accommodation is arranged on separate floors for male and female students, and there is a full-time resident member of staff with living quarters on each of the three House levels. All rooms include a purpose-built study work-area,  and a full-length mirror.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and laundry on the ground floor. All boarders have access to refrigerators, microwaves and kettles to make light snacks in their respective Common Rooms (one on each floor). Tea, coffee, sugar and washing-up liquid are all provided. All boarders must be responsible for the cleanliness and hygiene in these areas, and must clear away after use. There is also a boarders’ kitchen on the ground floor where they are able to cook at weekends.
The Common Rooms are also equipped with 55"  televisions. A selection of broadsheet newspapers and magazines are taken by The House and are available for all boarders in the Common Rooms.
