National Accreditations
The Priory Academy LSST holds a number of national accreditations in science and computing.
Computing Hub
Designated as a High Performing Computing Hub for the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) Raspberry Pi and STEM Learning consortium, we offer a range of opportunities for teachers within our own academy trust and more widely. A number of our teachers are trained facilitators and graduates of the Computer Science Accelerator programme, meaning that our students have access to the very best teaching available from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5.
More broadly, our Computing Hub is part of a national network supporting the work of the NCCE, ensuring teachers at all stages of their careers have access to a suite of relevant, inspiring and effective resources and training opportunities. As such, we support the NCCE in its aim to improve the expertise of computing teachers from Primary to Key Stage 5 so that they are able to teach the new knowledge-based curriculum and the new computer science content up to GCSE and A level.
Working with the University of Lincoln, subject matter experts and local Computing at Schools (CAS) communities, our facilitators support teachers across the county and more widely regardless of their level of computing knowledge.
Science Learning Partnership (SLP)
The Priory coordinates and leads the Greater Lincolnshire Science Learning Partnership (SLP) providing high quality, subject specific continuous professional development (CPD) for primary and secondary schools in the area. It is part of a nationwide network of SLPs and other support for schools managed by STEM Learning.
We combine local expertise in teaching and learning in science, facilitating CPD, and providing school-to-school support. We offer quality, high impact science CPD through a range of full day or twilight sessions. We also work with schools on an individual basis to provide bespoke support to meet the differing needs of schools across the region.
Specialist Physics SLP
Due to our expertise in Physics, we have been designated as a specialist physics SLP, one of only two in the country. In this role, we support the teaching of Physics nationally and provide local, regional and national CPD to teachers at all career stages. Our facilitators all hold national accreditation.
Institute of Physics Lead School (Stimulating Physics Network)
Lastly, we are an Institute of Physics Lead School. We support around a dozen local schools and academies directly through our part in the Stimulating Physics Network and we are the regional provider for the Subject Knowledge for Physics Teaching (SKPT) programme. We also provide specialist support and advice to a number of Initial Teacher Training providers. Lincolnshire SCITT - Train to Teach
